Jane Aitken - Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon

Jane Aitken, is a trained scientist and Consultant Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon who holds numerous medical certifications (MBBS, PhD, FRCS (Ed) (Gen Surg). She qualified in 1997 and gained her CCT in general surgery in 2008, having completed a prestigious National Oncoplastic Fellowship in St Andrew's Unit, Broomfield Hospital. She has been a Consultant Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon since. She also holds an MPhil in Biochemistry (University of London) and PhD in Molecular Endocrinology (University of London and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas) and has a number of related publications. At the present time, she is involved in a number of active research projects.

She is a member of various professional associations. These include the Association of Breast Surgeons, British Association of Surgical Oncology, British Medical Association, Medical Protection Society and a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).

Miss Aitken specialises in diagnosis and treatment of both benign and malignant breast disease. She works with her colleagues in plastic surgery to offer a full range of breast reconstruction techniques and has a specialist interest in breast conservation for cancer patients using various plastic surgical techniques.

Miss Aitken also treats male breast conditions and is happy to receive referrals for patients with breast related medical concerns.
